Common Questions
Everything you need to know about subtitle shifting.
How does the 'one-point sync' method work?
The tool identifies the time difference (offset) between where the dialogue occurs in the video and where it's timestamped in your file. It then applies this exact same offset to every single subtitle cue, shifting the entire file forward or backward in time.
Will the synced subtitle file work in any video player?
Yes. The tool outputs a standard SRT or VTT file with corrected timestamps. This file will work correctly in any media player, on any platform (like YouTube or Vimeo), or in any editing software that supports these formats.
What's the difference between SRT and VTT?
SRT (SubRip) is a basic subtitle format with timestamps and text. VTT (WebVTT) is a more modern format for the web that supports everything SRT does, plus options for styling, positioning, and metadata.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. Just like our other tools, all processing happens directly in your browser using JavaScript. Your video and subtitle files remain private on your computer and are never sent over the network.
